Preparatorycourse.com - GENERAL TERMS AND CONDITION

Article 1: Terms and definitions

Preparatorycourse is registered in the trade register of the Chamber of Commerce in Amsterdam under number 57068836 and offers courses and training in preparation for a study at an university of visual arts and design.

Participant: The person who has registered for a course and/or training, class or review.

Courses: Providing online lessons in groups to participants in order to introduce them to or prepare them for the various study disciplines of Dutch universities.

The online course offering of the preparatorycourse.com consists of different variants of the preparatory courses, the admission trainings and the summer classes.

Portfolio Review: Providing individual online portfolio reviews to participant(s) in order to advise them in their preparation for the various majors of Dutch universities of arts and design.

Agreement: The written agreements between Preparatorycourse and the Participant, concerning the provision of the Courses and the related activities.

Fee: The amount that Preparatorycourse charges the participant for participation in a course, training, summer class or portfolio review.

Cancellation: The written cancellation of the Agreement to participate in a course, training, summer class or portfolio review.

Training material: documents and teaching material that Preparatorycourse has made available to the Participant in the context of the courses.

Time zone: all activities will take place within the Central European Time zone (CET). If you live in a different time zone make sure that you have the right conversion to be on time for your online appiontment(s).

Article 2: Conditions

1. Cancellations must be submitted in writing, no later than fourteen days before the start of a course, class or training; in the case of a later cancellation, or cancellation during the course, class or training the full fee remains due.

For portfolio reviews, cancellations must be submitted in writing no later than one week prior to the scheduled review. If this does not happen, the full fee remains due. The administration will do its best to find - together with the participant - a suitable new date for the portfolio review.

2. For each course, class or training we have set a minimum and maximum number of participants in advance. If the number of registered participants is too low to compose a class, the administration of preparatorycourse.com reserves the right to cancel a course, class or training. Any paid fees will then be refunded as soon as possible.

3. If the portfolio review cannot take place at the planned date or timetable, due to personal circumstances on the side of preparatorycourses.com, then any paid fees will be refunded as soon as possible.

4. If one or more of the lessons cannot take place at the planned date or timetable, due to personal circumstances on the side of preparatorycourses.com, then a replacement date will be planned to catch up on the lessons. If it is impossible for participants to follow the catch-up lessons on the replacement date, the part of the course will be compensated, corresponding to the part that you have already paid, but were unable to use due to cancellation. The paid fees from these specific dates will be refunded as soon as possible.

5. No refund can be claimed if you decide to not participate in one or more parts of the course, lesson or training.

6. Registration is confirmed upon receipt of payment; only then will students be assigned a course, provided there are enough registrations for the course to proceed.

7. The developers of the preparatorycourse.com reserves the right to implement any modifications to the programme. Those changes could be specific improvements or modifications due to real life developments, like political situations. In general, program changes are no reason for refunds.

8. Due to privacy reasons it’s not allowed to make video recordings of the online communal lectures or meetings. Any violation of this will be reported.

9. The material required in the online course is not included in the course fee. It is your responsibility to provide a computer or laptop with a stable internet connection and sufficient materials for making sketches and designs, corresponding to your major.

 10. The courses, trainings and classes are designed to increase your chances of admission. Completing a course, training or class does not in any way guarantee admission. No rights can be derived from completing one or more components of the programs.

11. All participants in the course are required to be sufficiently covered by their own liability insurance policy.

12. network failures

The preparatory course is not responsible for network failures. Partially missing lessons due to network failures on the part of the participants will not be eligible for compensation.

Network failures, on the part of the preparatory course, that last longer than one hour, will be compensated with catch-up lessons, preferably with additional lessons during the next lessons, that start earlier and/or end later. If individual participants are unable to attend the catch-up lessons, they will be compensated, according to the percentage of missed hours.

13. Login problems

The participant is responsible for maintaining and updating his/her hardware equipment and corresponding software. To prevent login problems in the Teams channel of the Preparatorycourse, it is important to always log in with the same email address - which must be known to the Preparatorycourse. 

There is a chance that access to the team channel is denied by settings on your computer, for example by a school account that is active at that time. It is advisable to log out of your school or work account before you start logging in to the preparatorycourse.
